Huddersfield Town v MK Dons – Match Report

Just three days after defeating MK Dons 2-0 in their own back yard, we hosted them in the return leg at Leeds Road. The situation was simple: Town needed to avoid defeat or lose by just one goal, and they would get through to the final. Their opponents would be Sheffield United, who scraped past Stevenage in a 2nd leg snooze-fest on Monday night.

This is not so much a match report more a collection of my thoughts and what I vaguely remember from the match. Was way too tense to be making my usual notes so tried to sum up at the end of each half. Read the rest of this entry »

MK Dons v Huddersfield Town – Match Report

Attempt 2. Just accidentally closed my browser and lost half the report. Bloody hell!

There’s not been many reports that I’ve actually looked forward to writing this season, but I had a sneaking suspicion that this was going to be a good one. Even though my prediction of a 4-0 win was a little optimistic, Town came away with a 2-0 lead going into the second leg on Tuesday. In the other semi-final on Friday night, Stevenage and Sheff Utd drew 0-0 and both teams still have something to play for in the return fixture at Bramall Lane. Read the rest of this entry »

Huddersfield Town v Yeovil Town Match Report

Oh how I love the last game of the football season! The nerves, the tension, the excitement. The constant checking of other scores and doing a mental updating of the league table in your head. The whispers and rumours that come through from the guy sat behind you listening to Radio 5 Live (at least in a pre-Twitter world). But we had none of that this weekend for our home game against Yeovil, and despite a solid win, it was a bit of a non-event. Read the rest of this entry »

Huddersfield Town v Yeovil Town – Match Preview

Now then. As we come to the end of the season I’m starting to think about what I can do with this blog next year, and the answer is pretty simple: a lot more. At the moment I only seem to upload match reports (and even they have tailed off towards the end of the season!). This is a snapshot of my typical monthly traffic. No prizes for guessing when I upload reports and promote them:

So the first thing I want to do is bring in match previews. I won’t lie, I was inspired by the Spy In The Camp feature that the Scunthorpe Telegraph did in getting my thoughts on the upcoming match, and I thought it was pretty decent. So here’s the test drive, for the last game of the regular season, at home to Yeovil Town. They won’t be packed full of stats, but just my take on the match and including the thoughts of an opposition fan. Read the rest of this entry »

Huddersfield Town v Scunthorpe United Match Report

Welcome back! I’ve not done a report since the Charlton match nearly a month ago. Mainly due to the fact that I’ve not been attending games (I know, shoot me!) and I was so uninspired after the Wednesday game that I couldn’t bring myself to relive it. I’ve shelled out for two holidays and a season ticket this month so splashing out on trips to Carlisle, Orient and Preston was far down on my list of priorities. Also I felt I better start saving up for our inevitible play-off campaign. Read the rest of this entry »
